Assalam o alykum respected respondent,
My wife has 5 tolaas of golden jewelry which was gifted by her parents and my parents at the time of our marriage. She is the owner and custodian of this gold. Moreover, she does not have any source of income. Am I liable to pay Zakat on this gold?

الجواب حامدا ومصلیا
If your wife owns some cash (more or less) in addition to five tolas of gold, she will be obliged to pay Zakat on that gold, which she is responsible for paying, If you want to pay this Zakat on her behalf with her permission, you can also pay it.
