ENGLISH VERSION ASSALAAMUALAIKUM.Recently my parents constructed a new home and my uncle seeked an astrologer who after inspecting our home told us we built the kitchen in wrong direction and we shouldnt light a flame for cooking in that direction ,and if we did the cooking there ,we might get in big trouble and we will be destroyed.Here in India many people both hindus and Muslims seek an astrologer ,to seek his knowledge"vaastu" before constructing homes.Is this allowed in Islam.Do we have to cook in different direction/ place as per the astrologer advise to avoid trouble.Please help.

Only Allah knows everything , even unknowns (unseen) and events which have to happen in future. No body has this comprehensive knowledge except Allah. It is narrated in Quran:

With Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except He. [inaam, 59].

Knowledge of destiny is with Allah, and with strong belief in Allah, one must follow his instructions. Real peace and happiness of life lies in following Shariah (adherence to Do’s and  Don’t’s).

Hazrat Muhammad ( Peace be upon him) said that whosoever visits Astrologist (‘Kahin’) and asks him anything (seeking guidance on future events), his prayers (Namaz) of 40x days will not be accepted. Therefore, visiting a astrologist to ask for any good or bad happening of future is ‘Not Permissible’. Believing in his predictions  is Sin and to believe that he can impact future is ‘Kufr’ (according to aapkeMaasail or unnka Hal).

For barkah and blessings at home, Tilawat (recitation) of Quran should be adopted especially of Sura-e-Rehman, Sura-e-Yasin, Sura-e-Jin and Sura-e-Muzzamil or one can play their recordings. Atmosphere of Aamal (good deeds) should be ensured at homes and avoidance to Sins is key to blessings.

الدر المختار وحاشية ابن عابدين (1/ 43)  

وحراما، وهو علم الفلسفة والشعبذة والتنجيموالرمل وعلوم الطبائعيين والسحروالكهانة، ودخل في الفلسفة المنطق، ومن هذا القسم علم الحرف(قوله: علم الحرف) يحتمل أن المراد به الكاف الذي هو إشارة إلى الكيمياء، ولا شك في حرمتها لما فيها من ضياع المال والاشتغال بما لا يفيد. ويحتمل أن المراد به جمع حروف يخرج منها دلالة على حركات. ويحتمل أن المراد علم أسرار الحروف بأوفاق الاستخدام وغير ذلك. اهـ. ط. ويحتمل أن المراد الطلسمات، وهي كما في شرح اللقاني نقش أسماء خاصة لها تعلق بالأفلاك والكواكب على زعم أهل هذا العلم في أجسام من المعادن أو غيرها تحدث لها خاصة ربطت بها في مجاري العادات.
